When Paul and I first decided to start a ‘Spotlight On’ blog, it was our intention to highlight and champion fellow businesses in the Three Counties that we have personally had memorable experiences with.

Let me introduce you...

Sub Studio Photography is based in the heart of Worcester city centre on Copenhagen Street. This is where husband and wife team, David and Sarah create the most stunning wall art and family portraiture. With David hosting the photoshoot and working his magic to take amazing images, combined with Sarah’s friendly client communication, this dream team has left a lasting impression.

Where did it all begin?

Rewind to 5 years ago…pre-children…I was skinny…Paul had more hair…AND we had a gorgeous, 14-year-old Labrador called Buster. Paul was given Sub Studio vouchers for a pet friendly photoshoot as a Christmas present from my parents. Now, I’ll be honest, you never know which way a pet portrait is going to go, particularly with a large blonde Labrador BUT it was actually really relaxed and a lot of fun. Typically, Buster wanted to explore and he didn’t always want to take direction but David was very friendly, accommodating and we didn’t feel under pressure.

A couple of weeks later we arranged to go back into the studio, in Worcester to preview all of the photographs. We settled on the couch and we were offered chocolates and a glass of fizz (other beverages were available but I chose the fizz!) and it felt like we were being spoilt. We looked through a presentation of our images, which had been set to music and we really had an overwhelming feeling of happiness.

We fell in love with multiple images but David worked alongside us and supported us to narrow down our choices. We left thoroughly content with our decision and couldn’t wait to collect our finished wall art – which, of course, didn’t disappoint!

What happened next?

Well, fast forward 4 and a half years and we have gained weight, lost some hair but have 2 adorable children – Charlie and Megan! When Charlie was born in 2018, we won a baby photoshoot with a different photographer and it highlighted that how fantastic the overall experience we had originally with David and Sarah. Which lead us back to Sub Studio in 2020 for a photoshoot of both children.

Why was the overall experience so memorable?

~At the very beginning of our booking, we were sent a gold envelope in the post with a handwritten message thanking us for a booking and how much they were looking forward to our photoshoot.

~ During telephone conversations with Sarah, she recalled back to our previous photoshoot with Buster and was thoughtful when asking after him and how our lives have changed since.

~Despite strict covid rules being enforced, David and Sarah were efficient but instantly put us at ease and we felt relaxed.

~ The children responded well to David during the photoshoot, it didn’t feel rushed and David was really friendly and a lot of fun. (It can be quite tricky to make Megan smile!)

~ Once again the review of our photographs a week later, was magical. The gallery was set to music and we settled on the sofa with chocolates and fizz.

~ And finally…
We had another frame in a particular style that we wanted to recreate so that the new artwork would match it. David gave us a couple of really good options which left us undecided. He took the time and superimposed the new images (in the different options) and copied it into a photograph of our living room. We felt he went to a lot of trouble and detail to make sure that we were happy with our decision, and we felt that he really had gone above and beyond to help us. We also left the studio with a small cutting of frame to ensure the exact match in wood colour, and we now have truly perfect wall art.

We would highly recommend using Sub Studio photography in Worcester for the tremendous quality of photos and for the little personal touches that mean so much.
